The 4th one I know is sitting on the shelf in Herve's office, and the clay version Willems got from Marchand was displayed in Callac.
They had a Fath head on clay but that was sold sometime last year.
What is really interesting is the Oil painting of Brittany with "dark" nose by an AMERICAN artist prior to 1900's. So if the ABC wanted to know
if Black was a contaminant as we all know that is not the case!
But yes web surfing the Breton in art is facinating especially when you get to the Danish painters. _________________ Goldie Coats

If one ever visits the Southern US specifically the Bird Dog Museum in TN
there is an Original painting by Boris Riab commissioned by Mrs. Marcell Bell of Belloaks kennel fame in the USA of her Dual champions. _________________ Goldie Coats

ill think your richt.. setter without a tail...not a breton; it is missing the "cobby" chest and its "forehead"(?)...ore the nose is to long..
the picture off the bronze hunter with breton from guy is much better...
there you see the breton immidiatly as it should be.... _________________ ad fundum; bottums up
I did find the website of somebody in Northant's who would do a bronze of your dog. Can't find it now but I think the price was c£3oo. Not that much for a personalised sculpture, especially when you think that I bought a limited edition bronze setter for £85 in the early 80's when my dog cost £80 _________________ If a job's worth doing, it's worth paying somebody else to do it properly
I think we were about £60 for this one in 1985 - don't know what it is made of though, feels quite heavy - and it's broke, as you can see. Front leg missing altogether and back leg armature has come away from the main body. The back line is more or less level when the back leg is attached. Hope you can fix it Guy, unless you think it's worth taking it to Bill?

Handle every situation like a dog, if you can't eat it or play with it, just pee on it and walk away
determining the material - would need to see it closer; however I would guess at a resin of some sort considering the date and purchase price.
the extant leg would repair easily with a little adhesive. The missing one then modeled in a two part polyester resin - that can be found on the high street as car body filler (grey) and painted with a bronze powder pigment mix. There are metalised fillers - for repairing would you believe metal, but you would never match the colour without artistic endeavour afterwards. There are also epoxy putties in colours. Any of these materials would do as they could be carved once set.
If it is metal- then I would think a resin repair is still teh order of the day. _________________ Guy, Ellie, Topaz, Catja and in memory Barley

Anne, I have the same one It is a statue made of resin and done by John Bickley, Norfolk. Designed from a copy of a dog from John Hill in 1989. John makes statues in both bronze and resin, the latter being considerably cheaper but still very nice to have...He is well known for satues of hares and they are wonderful...
I have a china one made by Nothern Light, a liver and white...It is quite nice too( for some reason it looks better in that colour than Orange)
