Hi Sue

It sounds like you are tempting fate, having the dogs anywhere near, I was caught out 29yrs ago by a disinterested rogue of a dog i had, who kept looking the other way until i popped in the kitchen to pick up my brew. Embarassed  Embarassed  Embarassed  Embarassed  and he was  Laughing  Laughing

That just reminded me of Brett and Bonnie - our first two.  Bonnie was on her 21st day and Brett had shown no interest at all since we got them back in the house together about 3 days previously, and neither had Bonnie.  The phone rang and I went out to the hall to answer it.  A wrong number so I was back in the lounge in 2 minutes - to see them tied!  It was THAT quick! Rolling Eyes  Rolling Eyes  We took her for the 'morning after pill' although our vet didn't think there would be any pups and wanted to just leave her.  We weren't going to take the chance as she had a 30/28 hip score.

Think breeder/owner may be wrong ... she ain't totally swollen but she was flicking her bum in both boys faces this evening - she may feel she is ready earlier Wink .

Brice now asleep on sofa with me, Chase asleep on armchair and Charley? Safely locked in her crate which I know is Brice proof as it was Mugi's and it survived a determined deerhound assault when Mugi had bitten him first and was thrown in mid fight scenario. I also have a padlock to go on it as extra security on the door if a clever breton looked to flick the handles (they have the extra hooks not just the straight bolts).

She's still very young so may not have settled into her season/ovulation pattern yet.   Again she may be like our Nyssa who was ready to be mated on day 7 and would have taken the face of any male who approached her on day 12 or later.

Long may peace reign in your household, Sue Very Happy

Cavalier, mated on her 11 day the first time, produced one pup. Next time she went on her 13th day produced nothing, 3rd time she was ready on her 6th day and produced 6 pups. the last time she wasn't to be mated but I was looking after a friends 2 dog pups [they were five months old] my bitch was on her 19th day and one of the pups mated her and she produced 6 pups again. The moral of the story Question  Us bitches don't read the books that say mate on the 10 to 14 day because we are little devils and will do it our way Exclamation  Exclamation

Day 12 and the boys are fed up with the minx.

She remains in solitary and being half-term (kids taking pets for walks) she is now confined to the garden only. For her time out I had popped Chase in his crate and Brice in the kitchen behind the tall dog gate (Piper is safe in his run) but a MADAM jumped the dog gate to reach Brice so rethink in order.

So now Brice goes out to the kennel and bunks in with Piper while Charley has her cuddles, training session and garden games but ............... I open her crate and she is straight out to the kennel to try to get to Brice. She is set on him as the father to her babies!

I am pretty sure if she flirted hard enough anyone of the lads would oblige now but none are worried about her in the same room (albeit in the crate) and at the moment all canines are asleep. All are eating fine and it ain't too bad.

I was asked to take in another foster today - err, no thanks as I have enough on my plate but little cocker has a nice temporary home till she can be sorted out.

We are over the worst with no real issues Very Happy .

Day 17 now and for a day or so Brice was tormented by the grey lady who wanted his babies Rolling Eyes , she was so floozy with him and only him! Thankfully none of the boys went off their food and as everyone is well behaved I have not had any major issues moving them around to keep her safe.

Today we went to Dog Games, Chase worked really hard at his jumping game even with two collies working adjacent who did their best to distract him. Charley did her second session and loved the fact she could run in a safe place, she was very keen and so much easier than Chase - but I still like the challenge of the little guys best Wink . Brice stayed at home to sleep without distraction and when I got home he knew where we had been and obviously more than happy to have had a peaceful morning even if it meant missing a training session.

She remains in solitary but no-one is stressed and while we need to keep vigilant in the short term I am pleased with how well they are all coping.

Sue, I'm interested in these dog games - is it a local organisation?  I have registered belle for Agility in January after the pups are off her, but wondered about something else for her too.

Although you can do Dog-Games anywhere you need to really work in a group Annie, I am lucky that the main base is fairly local in Welland (about 10 mins from the showground at Malvern) and I know a group does it down in Devon too but I don't know anyone else doing it in an organised way in this country.
