A whole wedge of recent posts seem to have gone missing this morning. these have not been deleted - well not by us.
I have contacted forum support.
The recent posts filter also went away again this morning but now seems back in place. _________________ Guy, Ellie, Topaz, Catja and in memory Barley

Why doesn't it do that when I write something embarrassingly stupid?

So Eddie, do you think nobody is on line at the moment or are they just thinking up suitable caustic replies? (though it doesn't usually take this long) _________________ My goal in life is to be as good a person as my dog already thinks I am.
this is the reply from the forum supervisors.

Your forum has moved servers. I think it possible that it was moved twice leaving it in two places at some point in time I am afraid that this has left some posts lost. I apologise for this.
2,500 forums have been moved so far, and thus far your is the only issue reported. Not much consolation if you are affected, but in the wider free forums world people finding forums totally lost or backups systems that are a month out of date is very common.
Forum move procedures are being constantly improved with the aim that if there is a problem with the transfer is always gets properly aborted and the forum left on the old server (the system always copies and never deletes from the old server). In this case it seems somehow the transfer did report an error but your users somehow in part or in whole were seeing the version on the new server. This then got overwritten when the transfer was reattempted

Nothing to do with us - imagine you have bought a new computer, you don't want to loose everything on the old one so you move it. Same with forums they buy new equipment and need to move information on to that so the old stuff can be disposed of. _________________ Guy, Ellie, Topaz, Catja and in memory Barley

We have the same situation at work when changing hardware for whatever reason. If managed poorly, the change-over can result in changes after the backup being lost. Sometimes, people who have no understanding of the problems involved make decisions which result in the job being managed poorly (Sometimes! rofl)

You are accessing this forum with [trillian] as part of the url. This may be happening automatically following a move to a new server, or it may be something you are doing as part of a phpbb3 upgrade. If this is not part of an upgrade then be patient and do not bookmark the link, the old links will be working again shortly. If this is part of an upgrade then make sure the owner finalises it in the control panel and selects to redirect to this version of the forum, then once again the link will return to being the old one within 48 hours or so. NEVER BOOKMARK OR PUBLISH THIS LINK IT WILL NOT ALWAYS

I am not doing a phpbb3 upgrade - so things will return to normal soon.
