Apart from general training for the rest of this week he is off to Lincs on Sunday to take part in a training group initiated by the HPR Forum and with Rory Major taking the training. We are looking forward to all aaspects of it bar the drive!!!!

Some nice hunting with good ground treatment and use of wind. We found a ...................................... squirrel . He also was convinced there was somthing in a hedge and worked his way in and through the hedge, if there was anything it would have been a bunny but it was good to see him so determined even though he flushed nothing.
I had a superb opportunity to see his steadiness. A dove was wandering up the farm track and then took off - bum hit floor with no prompting from me and the dove came in to land even closer to Chase (approx 10m) and he stayed firm until the dove decided actually flying was a decent option, he stayed sat till I released him.
Of course no day with Chase passes without at least one naughty moment and todays surpassed itself, not able to help John in the kitchen he popped into the dining room to see Barbara and myself - and leapt on the dining table , he looked so pleased with himself and didn't understand being carried out to sit in the car till we were ready to leave for training. _________________ Sue, Chase and the non-Brittany boys - Brice & Piper. What's wrong with jumping on the table? One of my first Brittany memories is of Bliss' grandmother rushing into Libby's kitchen, jumping up on the table, but because she was going so fast she just skidded right across and off the far side _________________ Liz and the Brats

Must be a Brittany trait.....Copper thinks the dining table is the perfect place to watch the garden birds from _________________ Lin, owned by Rudi and Copper the Brittanys & Zac the Springer.
The thing is Barbara wouldn't mind, My wife on the other hand !!!!!!!
You're right Dave, but I minded! He isn't allowed at home so what made him think it was acceptable at someone elses house?
He also met Sierra which was sweet as they are both grandchildren of Ebert - he was quite respectful so Sierra accepted him chatting her up over a small garden gate. _________________ Sue, Chase and the non-Brittany boys - Brice & Piper. Pets first and foremost.
Great afternoon (not so great 7 hours worth of driving to do it )....
I joined a group training with Rory Major, 4 weims, 3 GSPs, 2 Large Munsterlanders and one Brittany.
The session started with basic obedience - heel walking and sit as soon as asked - considering how well Chase had been doing you would think he had never heard the concept .
Then retrieves and I was dreading it .............. I have done a lot of work on retrieving with Chase as I had real issues getting him back with a dummy. He marked everyones retrieves well and then it was his turn. He shot out after his first retrieve really fast and hunted his ground well (I got praise for not interferring too!) as his dummy had rebounded off a telephone wire . His return could have been better and he was taught a lesson as he was plain naughty and out of order. Not being allowed to get away with it he was set up again - super outrun, nailed the dummy quickly and with only a swift glance at Rory he returned to me well . Final one was messy, he got distracted when he didn't find the dummy and despite being called in and sent again he was losing interest so I walked him up till he could sight it - sent him on and he did really nicely with a good return and then we just sat together with him holding his dummy while Rory critiqued our issues. Basically I am not responding to his pratting quickly enough although I get the praise in reasonably well.
We then went to water where, after it was seen he can swim strongly (he threw himself after the first dummy) Rory had him further up the bank with me keeping him sat while Chase was 'wound up' by silly noises and mock throws - it took me a number of false starts as a naughty breton was in the water at Rory's first attention getter. But even verbally holding him off the retrieve for a while didn't turn Chase off. The second round of water retrieves had the most experienced dogs retrieving over water - Chase is not ready for that yet but Rory was throwing the dummies from a far bank, initially Chase felt it was all too far but he did swim out strongly (even clipping himself on a fence) for his final go.
Finally we went back to some basic obedience to dry the dogs and to try and warm them through.
A very worthwhile three hours, not least cos himself managed to not get OTT when he became bored, he was sitting or lying down watching for long periods which is a first as he doesn't like spectating!
I have also arranged with Rory to go for some 1-2-1 as soon as diaries can be synchronised. _________________ Sue, Chase and the non-Brittany boys - Brice & Piper. Pets first and foremost.
Well having our houseguest has surprising spin-offs.
He is very settled (or showing off) and is first to sit, down or heel and he is maintaining duration in the presence of supreme provocation (like being dragged by the ear while staying in a down ).
His desire to retrieve is increasing all the time so he gets the reward and SHE doesn't!!
Out with 4 other dogs on a recreational walk he was not compelled to chase out of sight when they had a few deer run past (I didn't blow the STOP as I felt the presence of two brits, a weim and an ESS was too much provocation and rather than ignore a whistle I would have preferred an unauthorised run) but he ran and pulled off himself really quickly.
Saturday saw him at Brice's rehab and Charley was allowed too - all dogs were superb and in many ways I am wasting my money now but the dogs enjoy themselves and are both learning and helping others so we will continue.
Sunday was a day on the beach and I knew it would not be Chase's cup of tea ... boring two hours of ball throwing for ESS and WSS. So I arrived early and took Chase for a one on one run which he did enjoy, then he popped in the car while Piper and Charley (easily pleased ) had great fun then finally Chase came out to socialise with friends and met his new girl friend - a stunning WSS who was visitig from Switzerland. He was smitten!
Today we have just done some turns on whistle and while Charley stays in close Chase is actually turning quicker - time to stop that training in tandem as she will teach him bad habits.
