We don't have newsletters online, agendas we can do, Don't think events on members area first is necessary - all have closing dates - it's not a first come first serve situation; shop goods don't have a big mark up anyway - can't discount them really. Shop is run as a service for members not a money maker. If anyone wants to take it on I'm very happy to give them four boxes of stock and a stock list
Chat room - is that for members only? Didn't realise that.

Sorry, not what I meant.  I mean we don't have them at all.  Gay does the articles in Word and sends it to Kathy on a cd, who formats it into the way we see it on paper.  I asked once before about putting it on the website.  Paul said it would then be public and not a Member's only document but that has been resolved, and Kathy I think has a dedicated programme but I'm not entirely sure.  If we got it in text we could do something with it, but it's too big a job to format it all like in the newsletter

While I think it is a good idea to have a members only area it does raise some problems..

* What do we want to share that we are not prepared to share openly??
* We need to make sure that as a Club Website we are not ignoring Members who don't use the Internet as a communication medium.

Archives of previous AGM seems a good idea, unlikely to be of interest to non-members anyway.

Requests for help for Discover Dogs, Game Fair Stands etc - perhaps done as time slots with the number and type of dogs needed that can be filled in by the co-ordinator of the event when people confirm so we can all see where we are lacking cover.

For Training Days etc - a programme for the day with expectations of what a dog can do to be admitted into each level. Meaning we can hopefully sort dogs and handlers beforehand into relevant groups to save time and perhaps amend training groups if we have too many peeps at a similar level.

For Le Weekend - a good idea of what the programme is - times and locations would be really helpful for newbies as last year I was often in the wrong place at the wrong time Laughing .

Just a few ideas, happy to be shot down Laughing  Laughing  Laughing .

Members pay a fee so what goes in the members area are documents that are not in the public domian - newsletters for instance, AGM minutes - these were on the old site anyway  These are sent out in the post as well but if we could get an emailing list going it might cut down postage.

Perhaps this could be in teh CAlendar with an advance tag on it - don't know if that is possible, but Donald would.  Likewise other events - perhaps the news section could have these events highlighted too.
All good stuff here - keep it coming

I have offered and offer again - I will scan them and turn into pdf documents.
I will make a start on the ones i have got.  might even try putting them through OCR.  Just so much good stuff in the old ones that would be a benefit to current members.

Perhaps we could take the arranging of the newsletter back in house.  Sending Kathy something already formatted ?

Don't know - speak to Gay - I don't know how much she already does.
I have many of the REALLY old newsletters - right back to the year dot - do you want those too?  You're taking on a huge job. Are you sure?

Yep - i know it is quite a commitment, but doesn't need to be done in a few days - and once done it will be such a great resource for all - worth my effort   :-)  So yes please anything you can spare for a while.

Aren't the AGM minutes supposed to be in the public domain anyway?  I do think, however, that we need to identify what will be available to members only and to look at membership offering something more than newsletters and reduced entry fees.  By advertising membership benefits on the public pages we would then, hopefully attract an increased membership.
