Monet is not too hairy - quite thinly coated for a Brittany, he certainly has not got a fluffy bearded chest like a lot of dogs on here - like Guy i want to have Monets feathers on his back legs cut back for the hunting season - no-one around here has ever met a Brittany before and i have never cut backleg feathers - how do i go about it please?
Use thinning scissors - preferably the double serrated blades rather than one straight and one serrated. Go up underneath the feathering and cut, then use a pin brush to remove the cut hair. Do a little at a time until you have the effect you want.

Do you guys know of any good websites on how to do this...
or maybe even a utube video. I cannot get the nerve up to
trim the neck area of my dogs... I would hate to give a bad
haircut.
Any suggestions on how to get my dog groomed for the show scene? _________________ The Brittany

Do you have American type lined dogs or French type lined dogs???
Makes a kind of big difference as to which ones you are showing and in what kind of events. I have both and so groom them each differently for the venue I am participating in....where in western Can. are you?
There is the BC Brittany club and the BSCofC which has the bulk of their officers in Alberta/Sask.
I have a link to the "American" cliping if you are showing in CKC or AKC.
But if you are showing in CFC (Canine federation of Canada) it is under FCI scenario and minimal triming is the norm just ears, feet and tidying.
So far they only hold event in the eastern parts. _________________ Goldie Coats

Well I would have to say that if you don't know which type you have then most likely you have the "American" version since the French version are advertised and promoted as such.
Here is the Link that Jessica carlson made up for grooming the American Brittany. She is a breeder and professional show handler and is fast becoming a darn good field handler as well she just won the most recent ABC Nationals with her Dual Ch/Amtr Fld. Ch. that has placed in the ABC 1 hour type championships.
