Hi All,
I have heard a rumour that there is some fresh Breton NZ blood coming into Australia, has anybody heard similar?
Cheers,
Waldo

That is an interesting pedigree....
Derouboy started with French American crosses then kept breeding them into France imports...some good hips some bad in some lines and they will breed their bad hipped dogs anyway...they are breeding sables too now from their France imports up there in Quebec...
In fact it is their stuff from Canada that is the foundation of the FBGDA "Pure" lines in UKC owned and bred into by past presidents...
same stuff that they do not let in now that is already in the UKC pedigree base...that is why chasing pedigrees are of no use when one should be looking at type.  Interesting Tri bitch since the owner has had primarily American imports for so long....
I am just glad that some folks are not so uptight about pedigrees from various countries and focus on health and type....Had an inquiry for my French tailess dogs semen to be shipped...but he never came through....   As my male gets older his semen will not be able to get frozen, and I do not save semen for personal use.  He just had a natural litter of pups only his second time bred in his 7 years...I am no mass breeder like the many in EB'ers in the states...
I know there are folks there wanting stuff fom NZ but I have heard that many with EB do not do any hip checks, elbow checks or eye screens like the AB folks do there.  I for one do not breed to bitches that have not been hip checked at all....
For the Aussie folks is there a searchable database online for those Brittanys that have been hip checked?

If you mean the UK - it is on the Brittany Club website.  (www.brittanyclub.co.uk)  The hips scores that have been recorded are on there.

All the hip-scores from Australian dogs were sent to the Lawson/Willis database in UK, where only progeny data was searchable. I don't know the status of this scheme currently, but the Australian data has been given to Australian National Kennel Council (ANKC). There are plans for a searchable database for hip & elbow scores. I think that the expense has been a delaying factor.

Some breed clubs have arranged with ANKC and the local state Canine Controls that only puppies whose parents have been hip-scored can be registered. There are no restrictions on the size of the scores of the parents, but at least the scores are known, which is a beginning. This is not yet a requirement for Brittanys, but is for Golden Retrievers and some other breeds. However, the majority of breeders active in the show scene voluntarily hip, elbow & eye test all their breeding stock.

The hip-scores are automatically sent to the ANKC in the same way that they were automatically sent to Dr Willis in the past. So, having a dog hip-scored automatically has the information placed in the database.

For individual Brittany hip-scores, you still need to get them from the owners. Most Brittany breeders in Australia have profiles of their dogs on www.dogzonline.com.au
Many of these post their dogs' hip scores (although probably only the lower ones!)

It has just occurred to me that if the Brittany Club database has the Willis data for Brittanys then this will include any Brittanys hip-scored in Australia prior to the ANKC taking over. Would you mind checking? It would be of interest to me.

If you know the names of the dogs that have been scored in Australia/NZ then I can look up any data for you. PM me or Anne, privately if you wish.

You can do this for yourself if you have the names - but I don't remember seeing anything other than French dogs and an occasional American one on our database.

Any litters put on the UK Club Puppy register have the same criteria.  Parent's must be hip, scored but no criteria is set for the actual scores.  The current average score in the UK is 17 (combined Left and Right scores)
