The temperature got to 34 here today so I decided to take Dix to the stream for a swim...the water was warm and as he would not drink it, I decided we should come home...there have high counts of algal bloom recorded in our province this year.

As I write, a cooling noreasterly off the sea is coming in...great relief.

It is that time of the year again...birdscaring in the vineyard...shooting is no longer permitted in our vineyards, so I take the dogs with the French bell and they lift the birds out of the vines...they do their 'net patrols'...pushing the birds out of the nets...do not use this bell when hunting due to sentimental reasons as M. Willems had organised its purchase for me before I got to France and I would hate to lose it in the rough...I treasure it...but its resonance is perfect in the vineyard...

Here he is, taking a ride in the mule with me...

Dix and I have been doing retrieve work with the dummies...he is very good and has a lovely handover...will set up some blinds over the weekend.   Getting him assi beside me is a bit of a hiccup...he prefers to be at a slight angle to my left leg...I do not suppose it is anything major just somewhat curious and I am not forcing it to be an issue of any sort.

Haby (daughter of Dix de la Foret du Pinto and Quailridge Dionee) won the South Islands championship trial...unfortunately not enough points to gain the two challenge points available...it is very humbling indeed...I wish her and her master every bit of good luck for the New Zealands this coming weekend...go well, Haby...

Am so thrilled to hear that two of Dix's children have done so well at the trials this weekend, Haby has gained her sixth challenge and therefore qualifies for her Field Trial Champion title...Eclaireur (daughter of Dionee's sister) has gained her third challenge...it is very humbling...
